Has there ever been a bigger douche biscuit in business?
It’s not because he grew a huge business and then drove it into the ground.
That’s been done plenty of times before. It’s because he really wasn’t trying to grow an actual business at all. He was building a cult. All of which was built on this idea of “we.” Then he screwed the “we” left his team broke and broken and then escaped with a golden parachute worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Never before has a man needed his ass physically whipped more than Adam Neumann. Okay, probably not “never before” but this guy definitely needs his ego put in check.
This messianic wannabe is a con artists completely full of shit and his antics make for an absolutely wild and fascinating story.
I recommend.

Make money. Lose money.
Recruit staff. Lose staff.
Take over the world. Go on life support.
Lots and lots of alcohol.
Up then down then up then down.
This isn’t a space story. It’s a startup story. It’s one all too familiar to any entrepreneur. The difference here is a lot more money, a tropical island, lots of explosions and the goal to save mankind.
I absolutely loved this book.

I finished this one up with just a few hours to spare for my monthly GORUCK Tribe Challenge.
You’ve seen the movie. You know the rules.
The movie pretty much follows the same path as the book with just a few notable differences, especially the ending which was changed, I’m guessing, to be more Hollywood.
Perhaps the book is about capitalism vs anarchy. Probably because I was reading it in the lens of GORUCK, this time I focused more on enduring misery alone vs overcoming misery with a group of like minded crazies. After all, that’s what a GORUCK event…
Statistically it is nearly impossible that we are the only intelligent species in existence. Scientists approximate there are at least 60 billion Earth-like habitable planets. It is the height of hubris to believe we are alone.
Avi Loeb dives deep into the studies and research of extraterrestrial life with his belief that Oumuamua, the first object of interstellar origin observed by humans, was built by intelligent beings. By the way, a new study released just this week argues otherwise, stating it is a piece that broke off a Pluto-like interstellar planet.
I mostly enjoyed this book. I enjoyed the thought…
Let’s talk about tripping mushrooms.
Let me start by stating clearly that I have never done hard drugs. I was surrounded by cocaine, crack and meth for much of my younger life. I’ve never touched them. I’ve never tripped on mushrooms or LSD. I feel like I have to say that for my political and corporate clients before giving this review.
Now that’s out of the way I will say that I have a fascination with psychedelics, although I’ve never used them nor is this post meant to endorse or encourage the use of them. More specifically, I have a…
Ehh… I don’t know. Maybe I was just expecting something different from the sequel to Yuval Noah Harari’s hit Sapiens.
Sapiens is a well researched and thoughtful explanation of humanity’s past. Homo Deus is supposed to be the author’s theories on humanity’s future. I was expecting many thoughts on AI, space travel and maybe even the future of globalization. Instead we are mainly presented a treatise on atheism.
Yuval Noah Harari does thoroughly discuss the concept of algorithms and how much of our lives will be dictated by them, perhaps to the point where we will be completely replaced by…
There’s a big man in the sky who takes you to his happy home when you die. All your family and friends are there too. But you’re only invited if you’re good here on Earth. Honestly, it sounds illogical and like a bunch of hogwash made up by people to keep us from fearing death and to keep us from killing each other. Worst of all we are supposed to accept the story through faith, whatever that is, with no proof at all.
Yes, I’m a doubter. It’s just who I am. I question everything. …
Hey there. I have no time to write today because I’m bouncing around the country meeting with clients. I’ll make this one quick. This one was required reading for the monthly challenge in the GORUCK Tribe program. I really enjoyed it.
Sparks is a former Recon Marine and Air Force Pararescueman. He writes about the philosophical underpinnings of overcoming obstacles and extreme crisis situations. It’s all about preparing your mind and body for the toughest of situations… something you know I’m quite obsessed with.
If you enjoy war stories you’ll love this one.

If there is one book you should read to change your life it’s this one. We don’t reach big goals overnight or through one big action. We reach them through incremental daily actions. This book teaches you how.
For all my glaring faults I do have one strength — I’m productive. I typically meet my goals. People are always asking me how. I find the answer quite simple although I understand it is really very difficult. For years I have followed the 1% rule. I do a few things every single day in an attempt to get 1% better. Like…
Yes, the Emily Post Institute published a book about weed.
I’m not going to post on social media whether or not I smoke pot. What I’ll say is that I’ve been around pot my entire life. It’s always been prevalent. But never before has it been as prevalent as it today. It seems to be everywhere all the time as it becomes socially acceptable and legal in more states.
Because you’re going to run into pot sometime soon and it will most likely be legalized in some form or fashion in your area within the next few years, like anything…
